Psoriasis - Homeopathy
Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder characterized by scalloped, or rounded patches of reddened skin, covered by layers of silvery-white scales.
Psoriasis is rare in children. It affects both men and women, between the ages of fifteen and thirty-five. Certain families show a higher occurrence of this disease than others.
Psoriasis is not contagious. It does not appear to be related to diet. It seems to bear some relationship to lack of sunlight. It gets better in the summer, and worst in the winter. If it clear up, its bound to come back.
Psoriasis is characterized by periods of remission. The skin is slightly raised with red borders and is covered by large layers of white dry scales. The area may crack and become painful. Itching is rare.
Psoriasis is linked to the rapid formation of new skin cells.
In principle, skin cells are produced deep in the skin and come up to the surface once a month. In psoriatic cell, it takes only eight days. This causes dead cells to build-up on the skin and form plaques. The result is the production of an excessive number of skin cells in a short period of time.
Psoriasis can appear on the elbows, knees, lower back, arms, genitalia, soles of feet, and on the folds of the body.
In some people, psoriatic arthritis accompanies the skin disorder. The joints of the fingers, the lower back, and the neck is affected. Pain, swelling, and restricted movement is experienced in the affected part.
Homeopathy in Practice
Respect the body's natural ability to heal.
In homeopathy, psoriasis is viewed as an internal condition expressing itself externally.
The skin is a great emunctory organ. When the liver is overtaxed with toxins and unable to keep up detoxification processes, the skin comes to its assistance.
The purging of toxins on the surface of the skin is an indication that the organism is desperately trying to get rid of accumulated waste products.
As long as the skin purges toxins, no toxin damage will occur. Toxins will begin to infiltrate the system only when it fails to externalize them.
Do not treat psoriasis topically. When you apply a topical treatment, you drive the very toxin that the body is trying to drive out of the system back in. This causes toxin overload within the system. Over time, the build-up of toxins will give rise to complication of re-entered toxins and lead to a more serious internal ailment difficult to treat.
